2012 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: PT. III

Since as long as I can remember, my sister and I have always told one another what to get each other for Christmas and then acted surprised when we unwrapped our gifts. We used to think we were so sneaky as we exchanged exaggerated smiles indicating that the other had picked the right color, size, or style. So although I won't really be doing much "shopping" for my sister, I thought I'd come up with a few ideas I'd know she'd love, that would be perfect for a friend, roommate, or... little sister!

It doesn't help that my Dad's "list" usually consists of practical things like socks and my brother would love nothing more than an iTunes gift card. GET A ROOM

When I moved into my first apartment after college, I literally had a folding chair and TV in my living room. Yep, that was it. I was so excited to have a place to call my own, that I didn't mind having to balance my dinner plate in my lap as I ate or use a nightstand as a makeshift "entertainment center." Fast forward a few years (and one move later) and I now have a furnished living room, a kitchen table and a new workspace.

As I've started to focus on the decor to complement my furnishings, my bedroom has been my main focus. I've imagined a room with a neutral color palette, with pops of color and a few of feminine details. To keep things from being too girly, I want to balance things out with a few rustic touches, such as exposed wood, and other natural elements.  My bedroom also serves as my office, so I'd like it to be bright and creative, yet keep things simple and uncluttered. Here's a peak at my pinterest board to give you an idea of what I'm going for.

2012 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: PART I

Due in part to the unseasonably warm weather we've had this fall and my inability to slowdown for a millisecond, the holidays have completely snuck up on me this year. Thankfully I have my neighbors and local retailers to thank for being on top of things. My neighborhood lit up as soon as Thanksgiving was over and storefront holiday displays no longer feel out of place, making things feel festive despite the warm temperatures.

After a weekend spent Christmas shopping with my parents, I decided it was about time I came up with a few gift ideas of my own. So to kick things off I have a few gift ideas that would be perfect for your friends. Enjoy!

Shop These Items: 1. BanDo Flash Bobbi Set 2. LEIF Gemstone Magnet Set 3. Target Tory Burch Printed Beverage Container 4. CB2 Dahlia Candleholder Set 5. J.Crew Heart Key Chain 6. J.Crew Friendship Bracelet 7. Gap Two-tone Leather clutch 8. Anthropologie Capri Blue Jar Candle 9. Kate Spade Skinny Mini Bow Ring 10. Essie 'Winter Collection' Mega Mini Color Cube

DIY-OR-BUY: 02

Every year as the holidays approach I seem to compile a lengthy list of "Things to Do," that consists of all the festive things I hope to do that season. It usually includes of a lot of baking, attending and/or hosting an ugly sweater party and making DIY gifts for my friends and family. This year making my own wrapping paper is something I really want to try. Have you tried making your own wrapping paper or do you prefer to buy it?
