FEELING...LIPPY!

I don't know if it's just because Valentine's Day is around the corner, but I've noticed lips on more than Valentine's cards and stuffed bears, and I'm loving it! Whether edgy and graphic (like this) or sparkly and cute (like these), you can't go wrong. I don't know about you, but I think I'll be ditching the hugs.... all I want are kisses! XXX

STYLE FILE: PATTERNED PANTS

I don't usually wear a lot of brightly colored patterns, and if I do they usually play a supporting role in the form of a scarf or other accessory, but this patterned jacket had me thinking otherwise. Lately,  as I look towards spring, I can't seem to get enough of bold patterns and bright pops of color, which has me itching to get out of my comfort zone. Patterned pants aren't something I've ever tried, but pairing them with a neutral blazer and black pumps makes this trend seem less intimidating.

LET'S EAT: SPINACH SALAD

Although not typically a winter staple, I'll make an exception for this spinach salad with bacon, egg and warm dressing. Somehow these flavors still seem fitting despite the cool temperatures, and when paired with a cup of soup, it's the perfect winter meal. I love how simple ingredients come together to create big flavor, which is why this recipe is one of my favorites.

FEELING...ORGANIZED

With the new year upon us, I am feeling the need to spruce up my work space and get things organized. Somehow I always seem to get more done, or at least enjoy it more, when I have fun new desk accessories and a little new scenery. I might have to pull the trigger on this yellow desk lamp I've had my eye on; what do you think?

2013: BRING IT!

I have always been a list maker. Whether it be groceries, goals, ideas, or a daunting to-do list, I always seem to be jotting something down. It's not that I have a bad memory, but for some reason things feel more concrete, or more likely to get done, if I have it written down and new year's resolutions are no exception. I have always been a goal oriented person and I like the feeling of accomplishment when crossing something off a list.

So whether or not you're a 'resolution-maker,' it's always nice to take a minute to reflect on the past year and hit refresh for the new year to come, which is why I thought I'd share a horoscope I read while on vacation. I am a Pisces, but I think this advice applies to everyone and is the kind of attitude I hope to have in 2013:

"In time you will regret the things you didn't do as opposed to the things that you did do. So do it, take a gamble and hope for the best. You are a highly intuitive sign, Pisces - but go against the grain for some surprisingly interesting results. Get out of your comfort zone, know that you know nothing; pretend this is the first day of the rest of you life. Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. Love the detours, miss the train, and tell a stranger you love them. What are you waiting for?"
