DIY Painted Masquerade Pumpkins

I bought these pumpkins a few weeks back with the intent of trying my hand at pumpkin painting this year and I have to say I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. There so are many creative pumpkin painting tutorials floating around the internet right now, that I felt a little overwhelmed trying to narrow down an idea of what to paint. I honestly changed my mind at least three times before I came up with the idea of Halloween masks inspired by this pin of Frank Sinatra wearing a cat mask. I love the slightly retro feel and the nostalgia of black cats and masquerade masks on Halloween, so I knew this idea was a winner! I used acrylic paints that I had on hand and lightly traced out my design with a pencil before I began. I also added a little painted bow on the back of each pumpkin so it looked like the masks were tied on. Other than that, the process was pretty simple and straight forward. My only regret is not buying more pumpkins to paint!

Today I'm sharing a few black and white DIY's with a late-summer vibe that have caught my eye lately.
